Ignoring your weight problem will not make it go away. I know this from experience. In the past, I've stepped on the scale when I knew I was putting on weight, and said, "Oh, one more pound won't hurt," and kept that up. When I finally decided it was time to do something about it, I was way up there and had a lot to lose. So for that reason right there, don't copy my example and wait until you are so far overweight that it takes forever to get it off.
People that also continue to ignore their weight problem in spite of the fact that they are becoming morbidly obese by the day, are asking for a lot of heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, stomach problems, and other physical ailments.
One of the common things that can happen as a person continues to become heavier is type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is still diabetes that is serious just as type 1 diabetes. Many people mistakenly think that this isn't so, but it is. Type 2 diabetes is very progressive and can often lead into insulin dependence as in type 1. What happens as you form type 2 diabetes from obesity is that the pancreas has a harder and harder time secreting enough insulin to go through your entire body. It does not reach the cells to where it needs to go. So the heavier you keep on becoming, the more likely you are to become a diabetic.
Getting heavier by the day also will hurt your heart and arteries, placing you at high risk for a stroke. And that isn't the only thing. Cholesterol levels and triglycerides will skyrocket too when you are eating foods that are unhealthy and clogging up the arteries. No person that is obese can possibly have healthy arteries and a healthy heart. The arteries will become clogged up, and this leads to atherosclerosis which can cause strokes and massive heart attacks. People that experience a massive heart attack usually will not survive when this happens.
Obesity also makes it very difficult to have any kind of energy for any activity. You become more winded as you walk, and breathing is a lot harder. Washing yourself as your body becomes more into the obese or morbidly obese category makes it hard to wash and clean up. Therefore, body odor is also common.
As people become more overweight, they also lose a lot of self confidence in themselves. There is no way a person that has allowed their weight to get up into the obese category can feel positive about themselves at all.
And last but certainly not least, I would like to mention that by gaining more and more weight, you are likely to have sleep apnea problems. Sleep apnea can be very serious since it causes you to lose your breathing ability while sleeping. All of the pressure on your body will in time affect your lungs too, which in turn causes sleep apnea.
I hope by writing this article, I have encouraged some people to lose weight if they are already too heavy. By allowing that process to go on, you are shortening your life span, and the majority of people want to experience longevity. So that thought alone, should get you off the couch, going for a brisk walk, and learning to eat healthfully!
